Couples CounselingMany relationships that start out wonderful end up on the wrong path. The intimacy and closeness you once had isn’t there anymore. Perhaps you feel distant and isolated from your partner. When discussing problems you get stuck and the conversation deteriorates to blame, criticism and defensiveness. Perhaps you don’t discuss your problems at all. The relationship feels out of control. Research has shown that people in successful relationships have developed ways of being together that allow you to nurture and support each other. They are able to build intimacy and a sense of togetherness that helps them survive the arguments and difficult times that all couples encounter. Many of these skills can be learned and can help your relationship become more fulfilling and romantic. |

| Research shows that most couples wait far too long to seek counseling that can help them to be happier. If you decide to begin relationship counseling, we will start with a few sessions to get an understanding of the areas that you and I feel need the most attention and develop a plan to improve these areas. I may assign exercises for you to practice at home and may suggest books for you to read. I do this so our time in session can be more productive. The overall goal of our work is to teach you the skills you need to solve these issues on your own and to feel happier being together. |
